To me he was my Daddy, maybe not by blood but definitely in my heart.
Unfortunately the memories are now blurry.
He was my knight in shining armor, always there for me, protecting me. My life fell apart when he left.
I can picture some of those blurry memories of a daddy towards his daughter: Him in the garage putting the aid wheels on my new bike. When I had a kidney infection and mum took me to see him straight after the doctors to his work and without a word he walked straight out of his office door, walked up to the car opened the door and hugged me in his arms. When I used to asked him to tell me over and over again the story of his nan's 100th b-day party because it made me laugh so much the way he'd imitate his nan. When he'd take me by the hand and we'd go for a walk and I'd question him on culture and the whys of this and that.
Every night I'd pour him a glass of whiskey because i'd love to smell it before giving it to him.
The night before his death I remember pretending to read the lines of his hand and I told him he was to live a long life....
He's the greatest man I've ever known. When people talk about him they say describe him as being "A true gentleman"
To me his was my daddy.
